Spelling Tests taken today were not sent home because I still need to grade them. We were a little busy partying!!!
In class, we say, “We all make mistakes because we are trying!” If your child gets words wrong, please know that we focus on the effort! One of our goals is to learn the process of taking a spelling test and all of the kids are doing great!
Math Topic 4: Strategies to Subtract Facts to 20
TEST was today!! Again, I need to grade them and then I will send them home.
Mrs. Merkuri is volunteering on Mondays to work with a group of first grade mathematicians on Noetic Math. This is a math contest twice a year for grades 2-8. The kids will take a written test on November 17th in my classroom. They will be taking the 2nd grade test but I know some of them will do very well! What a great opportunity for math enrichment, practice, and fun!
XtraMath at Home!
Try it! If they earn a certificate, let me know and I will set them up for the next group of math problems.
We will celebrate in class!!
Literacy Pro at Home!
So far, 5 Busy Bees have tried it out!
Log in to Literacy Pro! Let me know how the kids like it…my own children really enjoy it!
This is our new online reading program that you paid for when you purchased the RASK kit. It is super cool! My own kids just started using it. The first step is to take an assessment and then the program will suggest books for your child. Please take time to login and check it out. I would love to have them reading even more over the break!
At LiteracyPro, kids can “access over 2,500 authentic, high-quality ebooks, some in Spanish, as well as connections to thousands of print books in classroom libraries. Students are given a personalized reading experience with choice, while educators are provided with actionable data about reading levels, activity, comprehension, and progress.”
Instructions: Go to https://digital.scholastic.com/#/signin
Choose “Sign in with Google Classroom”
Choose your child’s account: email@example.com
It will guide you through the rest! Please let me know how it goes! My own kids love it so far!
*To My Parents of Above Grade Level Learners:
These pages may not seem challenging enough for your kids! Rest assured, in class, we do a lot of enrichment activities and extensions! For example, the book at the end of the /i/ packet has very few words for beginning first grade level readers. One extension idea would be to add more detail to the sentences, like descriptive words or an addition at the end of the sentence.
For math, our discussions are deep and the activities and games that we play can be more challenging!
Scholastic Book Order
This will be our last book order before Christmas! Please let me know if you are ordering gifts and I will be sneaky about getting your books to you!
Choose “Connect to Teacher” and use our class code: WWGT4
Orders are Due by Friday, 11/12
Library on Fridays!
Please send in your child’s library book on Fridays or before. They will be choosing a new book when they return the book from last week.

Dear San Tan Families,
I hope you are having a great week! We have a lot of very exciting events occurring in the next couple weeks. We need a lot of school volunteers the next coming weeks so thank you for those who are able to volunteer! We also have very exciting information about our Winter Music Concert!
– Mrs. Sarah Laramie
- Please make sure that you are checking your student’s default dismissal. If you need your student to be dismissed another way, you can either change it in the app or we would be happy to do it for you. Please call the front office for help.
- If your student is labeled as a “Walker”, they will be dismissed from their classroom to go out to drive lane at 3:00pm. If your student is defaulted as a Walker, there is no need to “announce” yourself.
- If you are driving up or want your student at a time that is later than 3:00, please have your student labeled as “Carline”. If your student is defaulted or labeled as “Carline”, you will need to “announce” yourself when you get to campus. This will signal the classroom to release your student to drive lane. Please allow a couple minutes, especially if students are traveling from the Montessori village.
- We have assistant teachers standing outside to help monitor students and help open car doors.
- If you are struggling with the app or if you need any help, please give us a call. We are happy to help.
Winter Music Concert
The concert is Wednesday, December 15th. We will be holding the performance at Mission Church (4450 E Elliot Rd, Gilbert, AZ 85234).
We so excited for our venue change. We are asking for $10 per family in order to of set the cost of the venue. This “Family Pass” will allow you to attend the entire night of shows if you would like!
Please pay close attention to your child’s showtime, as we have three different performances that night. Your child will need to arrive 30 minutes before their designated showtime to check in.
5:00 – 5:30 – Kindergarten – 2nd grades
6:00 – 6:30 – Montessori K-6th
7:00 – 7:30 – 3rd – 6th grades
The dress code for the concert is black bottoms (skirt, pants, leggings, etc.), a white blouse or nice top, and the child’s choice of winter/holiday accessories (festive bows, scarves, ties, necklaces, or hats.) Please let me know if you have any questions about this.
Save the date and RSVP for our upcoming FEC group meeting!

Charlie Brown Thanksgiving Dessert Donation
Occurring the day before Thanksgiving, Charlie Brown Thanksgiving is a tradition at San Tan Charter! Dr. and Mrs. Sippel began this tradition in the first Montessori Preschool class with bean soup. The tradition continues for families by bringing their own lunch and eating it picnic style outside as a community and brining desserts to share. The kids love this because this is the one-day sweets are allowed on campus! Please help us! Peruse our list and bring your favorite treat.
A few reminders: No NUTS, desserts must be baked, defrosted and ready at morning drive lane. There will be volunteers available to collect your dessert at drive lane and walk it over to the cafeteria to be cut.

Golf Cart Request
The Power Campus needs a golf cart to help move equipment/water for home games & practice to the fields. We will also use this golf cart to help elderly fans make the long walk from the gates to the fields for games. We would like one that has seats in the back but can flip down so equipment and water can be carried. If you would like to donate one or would like to find out more information how you can help the athletic department obtain one, please reach out to our Athletic Director Shawn Lytle email@example.com
